Gift of Giving Christmas Unwrapped

The Christmas card where every pet tells a story of love

23

Meet Bonnie, Matty, Lenny, Peppa, Suzie, Ginger, Edwina, Harriet, Smash, Timmy, Baby (the cow), Sandy, Evie and Sooty — the real-life pets inspiring The Cinnamon Trust’s special Christmas card

Beyond the colourful strokes, each of them is surrounded by love, comfort and fuss, sharing a story of companion- ship that’s truly one of a kind. Te Cinnamon Trust helps nur-

ture these special bonds and stories, supporting owners to stay close to their beloved pets for as long as possible — and when they can no longer be there, the charity provides a safe, lov- ing home-from-home

for every pet,

whether in one of its sanctuaries or a carefully chosen forever foster home. For more than 40 years, Te Trust

has been helping older people and terminally ill pet owners across the country care for their pets.

THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEERS MAKING IT ALL POSSIBLE With the support of more than 20,000 compassionate volunteers, Te Cinna- mon Trust offers practical, hands-on support — from walking dogs, cleaning bird cages and taking pets to the vet, to providing short-term fostering during hospital stays. Te charity ensures that pets remain part of loving homes, even in the most challenging times. Te festive season is a special re-

minder of the power of companionship and the extraordinary comfort a pet can bring. “For their elderly owner, sisters Bon-

nie and Beckie were his whole world, the heart of his days and the focus of his love. When he suddenly passed away, we found these wonderful corgis a safe and loving home at our Hillside Sanctuary,” said Patrick Williams, CEO of Te Cinnamon Trust. “Cuddly Evie, the 17-year-old black

and white cat, has also found peace and comfort at our Poldarves Sanctu- ary. Her devoted mum, facing the final stages of illness, reached out to us and, with great love, asked to find Evie a new home, knowing her own time was drawing near. For every pet you see on this card,’ adds Patrick,

‘we honour

the promise to care for them with the same love and devotion they’ve always known.’”

Each pet featured on the card has

been lovingly entrusted to the char- ity through its Pet Profiling service, which allows all pet owners to make lifelong arrangements for their com- panions. During this process, they share everything from routines and medical needs to the little quirks and nicknames that make their pets who they are. Tis thoughtful service gives own-

ers lasting peace of mind, knowing that their pets will be surrounded by love and be cared for at the highest standards. Te card, designed by British illus-

trator Alison Lingley, is a celebration of connection and companionship. Each pack purchased helps care for

thousands of pets, like Bonnie and Evie, and the owners who depend on them through life’s most difficult moments. “Every time someone chooses one of

our cards or makes a donation, they’re directly

supporting our vital work

— from essential veterinary care for pets in our forever homes to hands- on support that can mean the differ- ence between a pet staying with their beloved owner or being separated,” says Patrick. Tis Christmas, you’re invited to

send a card that shares more than a greeting — let it share a story of love, community and kindness.

“My dad profiled Betty with The Trust but unfortunately, just two months later, he passed away. Thankfully, my dad had made plans for Betty with The Trust and had the peace of mind knowing Betty would be loved, cared for and homed in the best place possible. Betty moved to Hillside Sanctuary and has settled in so well. It’s lovely when I get updates about how well she’s doing. In the last photos I received, she almost looked like a different dog — she was so happy and healthy.” Gillian C
