Welcome to Summit 111 C

oming up is the Kendal Mountain Festival, and we’re pleased to say that BMC Breakfast Club will be back and as quirky and wonderful as ever. If you haven’t managed to get your tickets for it then get them booked! And don’t forget to check your emails for the discount code.

A number of BMC volunteers are reaching the end of their terms and we’d just like to say a huge thank you to them all. They give so much time and put so much effort into helping the BMC and we really wouldn’t be able to do all the important work that the BMC does without their selfless contributions. Again, thank you.

This does also mean that we will be recruiting to fill these gaps, so if you’d like to help shape the future of the BMC, please do get involved: www.thebmc.co.uk/volunteer-opportunities-in-your-bmc-area

It’s been amazing to watch all our GB Climbing athletes performing so impressively well both in domestic competitions and on the international stage. The Senior and Youth World Championships were brilliant, the Paraclimbing team won four medals, Toby Roberts made it into the Combined Final, Molly Thompson-Smith made history as the first British female to compete in a Lead Final, and Rafe Stokes won the first ever GB Speed Medal when he took bronze. And then he set a new British Speed Record at the British Lead, Speed and Paraclimbing Championships – outstanding!

This year, the BMC is once again supporting our amazing festivals that volunteers run; and it's not too late to join in. The Festival of Walking in partnership with YHA is still running, and aims to give everyone the opportunity to experience the health and wellbeing benefits of walking. And what's more it's free. So come join us on a guided walk and get out into the hills, no matter what your experience level is. Find out more here: https://hillwalking.thebmc.co.uk/bmc-yha-festival-of-walking
