CRUISE
CRUISE continues to be one of the fastest- growing tourism sectors, with cruise demand forecast to grow at least 10% from 2024 to 2028, according to a 2024 report by the Cruise Line
International
Association (CLIA). Over 37 million people are
expected to cruise in 2025, up by 7% compared to 2024.
With the number of cruise
passengers rising globally each year, some destinations are seeing a huge increase in popularity. New data by Iglu Cruise has revealed the cruise destinations which have seen the biggest increase in demand in 2024. The data was collected by comparing demand for each destination in 2024 to 2023. The following destinations saw the biggest increase in demand: Pacific Islands Top
locations: Moorea
Demand for the Pacific Islands cruises increased by 135% in 2024 compared to 2023, the biggest increase above any other destination. Asia Top locations: Singapore, Nagasaki,
Hong Kong Compared to 2023, cruise demand
for Asia has increased by 48% in 2024. Dave Mills said: “The popularity
of Asia has been boosted by a phenomenal for

this region to enable guests to enjoy the world-famous cherry blossoms, iconic cities such as Tokyo and Nagasaki, Mount Fuji
and more.
This trend is also set
to continue
into 2025 and 2026 as popularity continues to surge.” South America Top locations: Ushuaia, Montevideo, Fort Lauderdale, Punta Arenas South America also saw an increase in demand, rising by 35% Antarctic Top locations: South Shetland
Islands, The Arctic Sound, King George Island
Demand
for cruises to South America took slightly longer to pick back up
again, compared to cruises to the Far East, but now popularity is back in full swing.
Cruise demand for the Antarctic
increased by 31% in 2024. Canary Islands
Top locations: Santa Cruz, Palmas, Arrecife
Demand for cruises in the Canary Islands increased by 20%. Mediterranean Top locations: Barcelona, Rome,
Athens Mediterranean cruises saw demand
increase by 13%. Mills continued: “Always a favourite. Demand for the Mediterranean

remains high, particularly the Eastern Med with the possibility of visiting seven different islands within one week of holiday. In 2024, we’ve also seen some of
the larger US cruise lines opting to sail their newest ships in the Med (mainly from Barcelona and Rome) underpinning the popularity of the mix of calm Mediterranean waters, richly historic ports of call and
