SANTANDER O

Welcoe to

n behalf of the EICF and in association with the Spanish Federation of Foundry Associations, we welcome you to the 31st International Conference on Investment Casting. 2022 has started with expectations of a come back to the normality as normal as this could be. EICF has thoroughly prepared this come back for all Investment Casting stakeholders in this beautiful city of Santander, here in the green north of Spain. For those of you that are not so familiar with the EICF, maybe it is your first time in one of our conferences, the EICF is the leading trade Association for Investment Casting in Europe. We represent the interests of the European Investment Casting community, and we promote Investment Casting Technology throughout the world and of course, we host seminars and conferences such as this.

Normally we annually organize either an International Conference or a seminar. The last Conference was 2018 in Porto and in 2019 we held our seminar in Helsinki. We had planned the 30th International Conference to happen in Bregenz in 2020, but due to the Pandemic we had to postpone it several times and now have decided to realize it in 2023. In the meantime, we had to postpone and move the originally planned 2021 seminar in

Santander to 2022 and converted it to an International Conference. Our conference theme is: “Materials & Supplies – Challenges for the Investment Casting Industry”. The

post-pandemic economic

turnout is defining a new scenario where materials, supplies and logistics behave differently as previously experienced representing new challenges for the Investment Casting Industry. In addition to that, now we face the consequences of a war in Europe with not a short end is in sight. Shortage of material, ruptures of supplies and supply chains, Material and Energy cost rising to never imagined values, not ignoring the humanitarian catastrophe and uncertainty for everybody. These new challenges together with their impact on technology, manufacturing and service shall be reviewed during the next days. We have put together a comprehensive 2-day programme of technical sessions with associated presentations, in addition a set of plenary sessions shall be devoted to review in depth the conference theme through key note presentations and a panel discussion. Time also shall be devoted to give tribute to persons who marked the industry, and to the host Foundry Ecrimesa which shall be visited on Wednesday 18. The technical sessions as always are the backbone of our event with 11

theme sessions, 3 market papers and 28 technical papers. There is plenty of scope for interesting and stimulating topics, hopefully something for everyone.

Being aware of the actual uncertainty in the world, it will certainly be interesting to listen to the two keynotes: Strategic Planning: Keys For Effectiveness In Uncertain Times on Monday 16 and Energy Transition In Electricity Sector on Tuesday 17. An important is

which a significant amount of time has been devoted by the schedule in order to allow effective interaction among foundries, suppliers and IC stakeholders. Exhibiton shall be running an extensive exposition featuring key suppliers to the industry. There will be as usual the social slots in the programme which allow visitors and EICF members (Foundries, Suppliers and RTOs) the chance to participate actively in sharing knowledge and experiences.

Take

advantage of this unique opportunity to network and meet fellow professionals representing the full breadth of the investment casting industry. Have a fantastic conference. I look

forward to meeting you in some stage of the next few days.
