Celebration time

The countdown is on to the glittering night in January that never fails to kick off the travel industry’s new year in style

Christmas is over, peak booking season is in full swing and there’s excited chatter among colleagues about the first celebratory event of the year – the Globe Travel Awards. As the biggest event in the leisure industry calendar, this glamorous January gala brings together 1,200 guests to toast not only the new year but also the travel suppliers who helped make the previous year a roaring success. The Globes is more than an awards ceremony

(and a legendary after-party), it’s a time to show your appreciation for the trading partners you value the most. Over the past year, suppliers have been hard at work trying to earn your custom: delivering service that goes above and beyond your expectations, making themselves easy and reliable to work with, offering amazing trade incentives and, of course, selling a range of great products that your clients keep coming back for. These awards are a mark of excellence in the industry,

voted for and decided by the people who know it inside out – travel agents and advisors. Over the following pages, you’ll discover which travel companies have been nominated for a Globe by frontline agents. Check

out the shortlists, decide who you think deserves the trophy, then cast your all-important votes (see page 13). The raucous cheers from the hall and huge, rewarding

smiles on the winners’ faces during the ceremony are the direct result of your decisions. Previous Globes winners tell us how much these awards mean to them, with those distinctive trophies taking pride of place on desks and awards cabinets across the nation – so why not back your favourite supplier to be a winner? Stu Parish, UK chief executive of Travel Weekly

parent company Jacobs Media, says: “The Globe Travel Awards are a stellar opportunity to bring the very best travel suppliers together in one room to celebrate our exceptional industry. “These awards truly matter, because they are entirely nominated and voted for by agents. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all Travel Weekly readers who took part in the nominations process in September. “Now, we’re calling on agents to pick the brands that

have made a true commitment to the trade, to earn them a place in the spotlight in January. Every vote counts – so don’t miss your chance to decide the winners.”
