Belfast and Manchester Clia UK & Ireland is embarking on a series of Luxury and Expedition Cruise Showcases next month. Agents can hear news and product information from river and ocean lines, and learn from panel discussions. The events are taking place in Belfast (October 8), Manchester (October 9) and Norwich (October 10).

SeaDream adds Israeli ports SeaDream Yacht Club is visiting the Israeli ports of Ashdod


and Haifa for the first time on two 11-day cruises from Piraeus (Athens), in May and October 2021. The ports are among several in the Mediterranean that have been added to SeaDream’s portfolio. A 10-day cruise from Venice to Piraeus in June visits Ksamil in Albania, offering excursions to the Roman site of Butrint. In France, a call into Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer in May gives passengers the chance to visit Marseille, while Otranto in Italy – visited on a seven-day August cruise from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Dubrovnik – promises medieval architecture and picturesque beaches. For adventurers, new expedition ship SeaDream Innovation leaves Greenwich in September 2021 on a 70-day voyage to Ushuaia.


Cunard signs up adventurers as speakers on 2020 Alaska cruises


Two of the UK’s top adventurers will be among the special guests joining Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth when it returns to Alaska in 2020. Explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes will talk about his experiences journeying around the polar axis on the June 2 departure (he’s on board for the first two days), while mountaineer Kenton Cool will be on cruises departing June 12 and 22. Cunard has 12 ex-Vancouver Alaska sailings next year.


6 September 2019 Sanctuary’s Nile vessel


returns following revamp Sanctuary Retreats’ river ship Nile Adventurer returns to service this month following a makeover that has seen its 32 cabins, suites and public areas refurbished. A new spa features a floating four-poster bed. The vessel is sailing four-night cruises between Luxor and Aswan, with temple tours included each day.


dry dock for $165m refit Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis of the Seas will go into dry dock this month for the addition of an aqua park, laser tag and 10-storey slide. The $165 million makeover will also include the line’s first BBQ and a new-look Adventure Ocean kids’ club. Launched in 2008, Oasis was Royal’s first 6,000- plus passenger mega-ship.
