THE SPA Spirit of Discovery, Saga Cruises
Saga Cruises upped its wellness offering this year when it launched Spirit of Discovery. The swanky spa, run by Steiner, has five treatment rooms and therapies including age-defying facials (from £69), a hot-mineral body boost (£166) and a seaweed body wrap and massage (from £125). The spa also has a free thermal suite with a hydrotherapy pool, two saunas and a steam room. There’s also a hair and nail salon and a dedicated acupuncture room (a 50-minute session costs £99).

CHAMPNEYS Marella Explorer, Marella Cruises
When Marella Cruises bought the ship it launched last year as Marella Explorer, it inherited a spa where passengers can be pampered with massages and facials, relax in steam rooms, get scrubbed in a hammam and detox in a blue room with heated loungers that vibrate and play music. It was taken over by spa expert Champneys, which created a Marella Massage (£99) to celebrate, which is offered alongside signature treatments such as an 80-minute Champneys hydro bath massage (£105) and the Champneys body radiance scrub (£75). A hair salon, nail bar, teeth-whitening service and medi- spa doctor round up the offering. There’s also a Champneys Spa on Marella Explorer 2.
