Cruise ship spas these days are serene havens, where passengers can indulge in massages, scrubs and wraps that promise to roll back the years with a soundtrack of the calming ocean. But where do you start? Jane Archer picks out six of her favourites

THE SPA Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Cruises


Created in partnership with British designer Kelly Hoppen, the spa on Edge will wow even the most regular spa-goers. It’s a big space with a spectacular thermal suite (free for passengers in AquaClass suites, or $59 a day for other guests), where you can sit in a salt therapy room, meditate in floating basket chairs and recharge the batteries in the Crystalarium (aromatherapy room). Treatments range from the familiar relaxing massages and anti-ageing facials (I was positively glowing after a $199 Elemis Biotec facial) to a tempting hot-mineral body boost on a table filled with quartz crystals ($259). There’s even a massage table covered in water-filled cushions designed to mould to the shape of your body (treatments from $259).
