US update adds to the momentum A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

US specialists and agents alike will have breathed a sigh of relief this week after the Biden administration confirmed rules for the reopening of international travel from November 8. The two main areas of concern were the implementation of vaccination

requirements for under-18s and whether lateral flow tests or more expensive PCRs would be required. On both points the policy went the way the trade had hoped (page 4). The reopening of the US market is crucial for many in the UK travel and aviation sectors, and the mood at Brand USA’s Travel Week in London certainly reflected a renewed buoyancy, with a stellar line-up of US industry leaders joined by government and trade representatives (page 7). The destinations we spoke to were realistic about the need for

patience, but also bullish on the prospects for recovery and eager to welcome customers back, a view echoed in this week’s edition by Delta Air Lines, the sponsor of this perfectly-timed US Special Edition (page 10). In the pages ahead, you can get the latest on the restart, hear how the trade is gearing up for the reopening of the border and check out places and products to sell now transatlantic travel is finally going to be possible again. If that wasn’t enough, this week’s magazine also features the second edition of our Guide to Homeworking, first created during lockdown as a resource for readers impacted by the pandemic (page 41). As we look forward to a wider unlocking of the industry, we hope you find this bumper edition as informative and inspiring as ever.
