LAH Travel @lahtravel So as the rest of the UK moves to easier cheaper lateral flow tests for travel, Scotland is silent. So much for the four-nations approach.
The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Grants: Applying is so complicated
Story: Abta urges trade to apply for £300m in unspent grants The grant application process is incredibly complicated, largely due to the amount of fraud that they have had. What we should receive automatically based on the fact that we are the ratepayer at the property, and have received previous grants, just doesn’t happen. On the last round of grants, we received two of the 12 to which we were entitled. I gave up with the other 10 councils as could not find the grants on their systems and couldn’t get hold of anyone. It’s a mess. Peter Cookson, chairman, Spear Travels
Ryanair: On the Beach ought to be supported
Story: On the Beach sues Ryanair over ‘dominant’ position At least somebody is going to give Ryanair a bloody nose over its anti- competitive behaviour! Abta should be getting on board and joining this legal case against Ryanair for all its many agents and OTAs. Steve Endacott
Newmarket Holidays business development manager Stuart Cowell visits Sunlounger Travel in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. He, and fellow BDMs Sas Rowbotham, Gemma Walker and Amy Burt, are all back out on the road, visiting agencies to promote the escorted tour operator’s programme.
Luke Johnson @LukeJohnsonRCP UK package tour capacity will be 25% lower in 2022 than 2019. And 300 operators haven’t renewed their Atol licences. The legacy of Covid monomania. I hope one in four people are happy not going abroad on holiday next year – while the rest pay much more for the privilege.
Atas: What a fabulous event! Story: Seven Recognition Awards given to agents at Atas Conference Lizzie Adamson-Brown: Absolutely incredible event – we loved every single minute of the Atas Conference. All the suppliers are just there to support us to really grow in this exciting sector. It was so wonderful to be nominated and to win an award. Thank you! Nemac Travel UK:What a fabulous event. Thanks to everyone involved in making the conference a success.
