Bourne helps Whickham kids get back to nature

The team headed to Whickham Parochial School after Katie put the marsh garden project forward as an entry in this year’s Bourne Community Champions competition. The school received £1,000 towards the cost of materials, and the assistance of Bourne Leisure head of trade sales and marketing Erman Housein, trade sales executive Gemma Wilks and marketing executive Faye Flower. Travel Weekly once again worked with Bourne Leisure on the competition, and managing editor Robin Searle headed north to join the team, which also included Bourne Leisure PR assistant Natasha Peters, headteacher Peter Armstrong and early years director Tanya Wood. With the help of the ‘Friends of Whickham Parochial School’ group, which helps to raise funds to support transformations at the school, and the Bourne Leisure Community Champions team, the school now has a wonderful area for the children to learn all about nature. “The passion from everyone on the day was phenomenal and I know this will make a significant difference to the children, driving their imagination and fascination with the UK’s wildlife.”
