Johannesburg: city of gold
South Africa might be the Rainbow Nation, but it’s only in Johannesburg that the country’s full kaleidoscope of colour really shines. But no visit would be complete
without a trip to Soweto, the township where Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu once lived, best explored on a guided bike or tuk-tuk tour to learn about its poignant history as the site of the Soweto Uprising. A couple of days is never enough
to explore a city as diverse as Johannesburg, but this is also an ideal jumping-off point to see some of South Africa’s other highlights.
