Julia Lo Bue-Said @jlo_said Advantage Travel Partnership The scrapping of all Covid tests from February 11 for the fully vaxxed entering the UK is a huge boost for the industry . . . but is only one piece of the jigsaw. Destination protocols and restrictions for the non- vaxxed need addressing too.

Titan: ‘Tainted by Saga move’ Story: Titan Travel confirms ‘nothing changes for us and the trade is part of our recovery’ Helen Dooley: Is that good enough? I don’t really sell either [Titan or sister brand Saga], so no drama for me. But if I sold any quantity of Saga and felt ditched, I’d
definitely be taking both off my sales portfolio. Q Travel Weekly would welcome a response from Titan

Agent Diary: Is it too easy for customers to shift their booking or request a refund? It’s time operators said their usual T&Cs apply again. Travel is safe and customers should just go away. There’s no excuse not to. We can’t keep doing all the work just for them to keep pushing the date of travel forward. Travel agents – and our operator partners – need to earn money or we won’t be here any more. northernagent
More people book when they know they have flexibility. Pesky penalties have long been the bane of travel agents’ existence and I’ve been around since the 1980s. I hope we get to keep it this way; getting a client to commit is much easier with more flexibility. Angela Mowbray

Saga: Selling direct is aim of many suppliers
Story: Saga to work with ‘smaller number’ of agents Cruise lines are desperate to sell direct wherever they can. It’s been the same for ever. When business is good, they will do anything to cut out agents. When it’s bad, they say ‘Agents are pivotal to our success and we want to support them’. The luxury of picking and choosing doesn’t usually last long. They will be back on the phone soon, I’m sure. Switch-sell where you can! Jim

Newmarket: Easy to sell Story: Newmarket hails trade as BDMs
return to agency visits Lorna Hardy: Love Newmarket’s local airport posts with regional flights – it’s what we need and love! Easy to do business with – they just make it easy to advertise and easy to book.
