Contiki refreshes brand imagery as it hits ‘carbon neutral’
Contiki has repositioned its brand to reflect the social travel demands and sustainability ethos of the youth market. The refresh comes as the
operator claims to have reached its target to be ‘carbon neutral’. A new ‘hero image’, featuring a
toy dinosaur with a group of young people will be used across Contiki’s website and social channels. It aims to position the brand as an operator providing “fun, social experiences and sustainability” for the younger market. Sustainability officer Tasha
Hayes said: “Contiki trips are designed to be 100% carbon neutral but sacrifice none of the fun or wonderful experiences to achieve this.”

twice-weekly flights from Heathrow Virgin Atlantic is to reinstate its Heathrow-Tobago service from Saturday (January 29). The service resumes on Saturdays and Tuesdays on an Airbus 330-300. Return economy fares start from £389, with Upper Class fares from £2,023. Virgin Atlantic, which recently added flights to the Bahamas and Saint Lucia, said the Caribbean was the “linchpin” of its leisure network.

Newmarket unveils 18 tours including several new safaris

Madagascar and Kenya feature among 18 new escorted tours added by Newmarket Holidays to its 2022 worldwide programme. African itineraries have been boosted following
the success of the escorted touring specialist’s range of safaris. The operator has added four options, including Madagascar – Red Island Wonders and On Safari in Kenya, as well as extra South African safaris. The 10-day On Safari in Kenya starts from £2,403,
including return flights to Nairobi; six nights at Ashnil Aruba Lodge close to Tsavo East National Park, the country’s largest national park; two nights at Eka Hotel in Nairobi; coach transfers and a tour manager. It features five open-air safaris led by wildlife
experts; a day at the Kenya Wildlife Service Education
Centre, with a talk by a qualified park ranger; a trip to Lugard’s Falls and Crocodile Point; a visit to a primary school and the Commonwealth War Cemetery; and a train trip to Nairobi. Newmarket has also added a range of US tours as
well as a Highlands and Hebrides itinerary in the UK. Head of trade sales Richard Forde said: “This year,
more than ever, we believe customers will be looking to book a special trip having had time to plan and reflect on their wish lists. “Trade sales have been particularly strong across our
African range, so we really saw this as an area to focus on for 2022 and 2023.” The operator has also added other tours, such as
