Virgin outlines route growth at Heathrow Virgin Atlantic has suggested it could add 84 routes at Heathrow if the airport’s third runway is built and the slots regime shaken up. Twelve of the proposed destinations are domestic, 37 European and 35 long-haul. The carrier currently flies to 19 destinations from Heathrow. Virgin used to fly some UK routes under domestic arm Little Red until it ceased operations in 2015.

Jet2holidays puts 3.3m seats on sale for winter 2020-21

Jet2holidays has released its winter 2020-21 programme, with 3.3 million
Jet2.com seats on sale to destinations such as the Canary Islands, Turkey, Cyprus and Spain. Flights from nine UK bases offer
1.6 million seats to Canary islands Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, with up to 160 weekly flights.
Tere will be 22 weekly services
to Antalya, from all nine of Jet2’s UK bases, representing 220,000 seats on winter routes for 2020-21. For Cyprus, there are flights and
packages to Paphos from all nine bases and a longer season to Larnaca. Services to mainland Spain
include Alicante and Malaga, and there are 325,000 seats on sale to Faro and Madeira in Portugal. Palma, Majorca, will be served with flights from eight UK bases
and there will be 40,000 seats from seven bases to Malta. Meanwhile, the operator and
airline have added 11,000 extra seats to the Canary Islands from Leeds Bradford for this winter. Additional flights and
larger aircraſt will support the expansion, together with a new weekly Tursday departure to Fuerteventura from February 13 to May 14, 2020 – including the half-term school holiday. Lanzarote will gain 6,000
more seats with an additional Friday flight from November 15 to December 13 and larger aircraſt from early November. Chief executive Steve Heapy
promised “more exciting winter 2020-21 announcements” soon, and said: “Independent agents can offer their customers a huge range of choice in winter 2020-21.”

Dublin to gain El Al link to Tel Aviv next May
Israeli airline El Al is to launch direct flights from Dublin to Tel Aviv from May 26, 2020. The three-times-a- week service will run on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and be operated by a Boeing 737, offering economy and business class. El Al launched a Manchester-Tel Aviv service in May this year.

Liverpool unveils new link to Ljubljana
Slovenian airline Adria Airways is to begin flights from Liverpool John Lennon airport to Ljubljana next summer. The twice-weekly service will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays from May 20 until October 24 on an 86-seat aircraft. Local agency Myriad Travel is creating Atol-protected packages based on the flights.
