Poon Tip eyes $2bn sales via growth and acquisition

G Adventures owner Bruce Poon Tip aims to quadruple the size of the business through organic growth and acquisition, as he targets a departure from the touring and adventure specialist in 10 years’ time.


Speaking at a Travel Weekly Business Breakfast, Poon Tip identified the luxury and boutique markets as areas for potential growth, and said the company would look to vertically integrate by acquiring hotels or lodges.

“We turned over half a billion [dollars] last year and have achieved double-digit growth every year for 28 years,” he said. “We will double in size [to


$1 billion turnover] in the next three or four years through organic growth, and I believe we can double that again through acquisition. “I believe I have 10 years left


[in the business]. I have a very disciplined business plan for the next five years, then the next five


years are more vague. Then it will be time to pass it on to the next generation.” G Adventures expanded its UK business in January 2017 with the acquisition of the Travelsphere and Just You brands following the collapse of All Leisure Group, and also plans to revive the Page & Moy and Swan Hellenic brands it subsequently acquired in auction. Poon Tip believes the expansion


will allow the company to further develop its product and redefine itself.
