and we’ve got lots of new product across all four brands, from all-new itineraries in North America to exciting Asia programmes, but one of our biggest focuses right now is Trafalgar’s new Africa product. With 10 handcrafted trips visiting nine African countries, and three different trip styles, there is even more scope for sales in 2019. This new programme was 72 years in the making, so you can confidently sell these incredible Africa journeys with first-hand knowledge and expertise.
Q. What are you doing at the moment to support your travel agent partners? Lee: We’re running an exciting music-themed incentive in which agents can be in the running to win a ticket to the Brit Awards for every 2019 US or Canada booking they secure. We also recognise how important it is for you to experience our products and truly understand the unique selling points, so we’re looking to plan more agent fam trips, as well as getting individuals away to experience the real product with guests on live trips.
Q. What song would you like to hear at this year’s after-party? Mark: As a child of the 80s and teen of the 90s, there are too many songs to choose from, but we’re in my favourite city, Manchester, home to a band that has many memories for me, so anything by Oasis will keep me happy. And seeing as it’s the best party night of the year, let’s go with Champagne Supernova.
Q. What will you be wearing for the 80s v 90s theme? Lee: I think I might go a little bit extreme and go for 90s favourite Baywatch!
Q. What advice would you give a travel agent attending the Northern Ball for the first time? Mark: I love the Northern Ball! It’s a celebration of all that’s good about the northern travel industry. There are no awards or big speeches – just a gathering of great travel people enjoying a fun evening together. I’d recommend you throw yourself into the experience, but don’t worry about your outfit too much. And one more thing, try to book the Friday off work!
