Ocean v Expedition
Lynn Narraway, Managing Director UK & Ireland explains the difference
At Seabourn we now have five stunning ocean- going ships and have just launched the first in our new expedition fleet.
Each Seabourn ship is carefully designed to offer all-suite accommodations, ultra-luxury amenities and very high standards
of service, as well as the world’s most incredible destinations.
Seabourn Expeditions take this to a new level…A great expedition is a combination of remote destinations, where culture and natural history combine to create an educational experience, one that is enhanced by the expedition team who deliver this, both onboard and ashore. The ship and its capabilities play a key role in getting guests there safely and in comfort, however the expedition team, their background, skills and experience are key in the final delivery of the ultimate destination experience.
At Seabourn, we have built a ship, designed itineraries, and staffed World Class Expedition team members… to deliver great expeditions.

A message from Robin West, VP & General Manager,Expeditions
We are so thrilled about the launch of Seabourn Venture, a ship that will offer a true ultra-luxury expedition product with no compromise. It’s easy to offer elements of luxury, but an authentic ultra-luxury product is one that extends throughout everything a
ship does. I believe that no one else does it better than Seabourn, as we enter this new market with an ultra-luxury expedition ship and extensive operational experience that will appeal to your adventurous clients, especially those who may typically choose a land-based experience.
Some remote destinations are best seen or only accessible by ship. Features unique to the expedition ships include a 4K (Gyro Stabilized System GSS) Cineflex mast camera, capable of zooming in on wildlife, such as a polar bear from 4 nautical miles away - and in real time relaying that image to all TV’s onboard, for a truly incredible wildlife sighting.
Seabourn Venture will also have a new public space, the Bow Lounge, which serves as a virtual bridge, with monitors displaying in real time the navigational charts, radar screen, bridge wing screen and external cameras. The Bow Lounge allows our guests a much greater interaction into the overall nautical operation.
Of course, if this is not enough, we also have an open bridge policy!
Your clients may: ●
Cruise by Zodiac under teeming bird cliffs and along jungle rivers as they spot whales, polar bears and walruses up close.
● Kayak among stately icebergs and tropical coral islands. ●
Hike through Viking ruins, ancient Incan sites and indigenous Amazon villages.
●
In state-of-the-art submarines, they may adventure beneath the surface past vivid reef walls and towering underwater ice-cliffs and experience sea life in a way few will ever know.
