Kuoni reintroduces culture-focused sub-brand Alfred&
Kuoni has revived and rebooted its tailor-made sub-brand Alfred&, which was originally unveiled as an Asia specialist in February 2020. Named after Alfred Kuoni,
who founded the company in 1906, its primary destination at launch was Japan. However, the brand was put on
hold because of the pandemic. The revived brand now
also features Cambodia, the Philippines and Laos, with most enquiries so far for departures in 2022 and 2023. Alfred& will have a more
cultural focus than the Kuoni range and will link consumers with specialists who are knowledgeable about each destination. Its tailor-made tours are bookable by travel agents, Kuoni retail staff and consumers.

Intrepid unveils sustainable experiences in Mediterranean
Samantha Mayling
Intrepid Travel has unveiled sustainable travel experiences designed to benefit local communities in countries in the Mediterranean. The adventure specialist has formed an exclusive
partnership with the Mediterranean Experience of EcoTourism Network Association (Meet), a group of parks founded by the International Union for Conservation of Nature which creates ecotourism products that support conservation. The partnership is part of Intrepid’s focus on
rebuilding responsibly and helping travellers ensure their trips have a positive impact on communities. Intrepid has included Meet experiences within two
of its new tours, to lesser-visited regions of Croatia and Crete, with more to come across Europe and the Mediterranean over the next few months. The five-day Croatia: Sibenik and the Kornati Islands
tour includes the chance to meet artisans and artists in Sibenik and learn about olive oil production in the Kornati Islands. It costs from £790 on a twin-share basis. The seven-day Highlights of Crete holiday starts
in Heraklion and ends in Chania, and includes the archaeological site of Knossos, the fishing village of Sougia, Agia Irini Gorge and an ecotourism experience in the village of Agios Ioannis. It costs £995 on a twin-share basis. Both tours offer departures from August 14 but the
prices do not include flights. Zina Bencheikh, Intrepid Travel’s managing director
for the EMEA region, said: “These projects will bring visitors to areas away from the usual tourist trail, while protecting their cultural heritage and preserving their ecosystem. These are genuinely authentic and unique experiences for our travellers and they demonstrate that tourism really can be a force for good.”
