Hong Kong protests prompt CMV to cancel 110-night Asia cruise
Cruise & Maritime Voyages has scrapped a 110-night Oriental Odyssey sailing in 2021 following political unrest in Hong Kong. The line said sales for the sailing
had been “adversely affected” after a string of anti-government protests and thousands of arrests in the Chinese territory, where the ship was due to call. CMV’s Marco Polo will instead
sail four new itineraries: a 42-night cruise to the Amazon, departing from Bristol Avonmouth on January 5, 2021; two 15-night Land of the Northern Lights cruises from Tilbury, on February 18 and March 5; and a 12-night Land of the Northern Lights sailing, on March 20. Prices for the Amazon sailing
lead in from £2,999. Mike Hall, the line’s marketing
director, said: “The situation in Hong Kong has adversely affected sales of the 110-night cruise.”
