A&K trumpets tours to see gladiators, cheetahs and more

Abercrombie & Kent is highlighting some of the operator’s most-popular experiences in its latest marketing campaign ‘Your Wish, Granted’. Gladiator lessons in Rome,

balloon rides over Luxor and cheetah tracking in South Africa are some of the most-requested experiences by A&K clients. The operator reported an

increase in demand from agents and clients last year for more involvement in the inspiration and planning stages of a holiday. It added a ‘My A&K’ tool on its

website enabling agents to select tours and experiences before handing over to A&K staff to tailor-make the holiday. Kerry Golds, managing

director, said: “Our trade partners come to us for our expertise. Our ‘Your Wish, Granted’ campaign is planned with agents in mind, as an inspirational tool for what clients may want.” A&K has also launched a Luxury

Tented Camps of Southeast Asia holiday. The 15-night tour costs from £12,785, including flights. It features Chiang Rai in Thailand, a Mekong cruise to Laos, and the Wa Ale Island resort in Myanmar. abercrombiekent.co.uk

Newmarket releases its first brochure for solo travellers

Juliet Dennis

Newmarket Holidays is to bring out its first brochure of escorted tours for solo travellers. The move follows the addition of a further

1,000 single-occupancy hotel rooms to the operator’s traditional tour programme for 2020 – bringing the number to almost 10,000 – and is in response to increasing demand from customers who want to travel on their own. The new ‘Your Solo Traveller Collection’ brochure

includes 45 holidays and features departures from September 2020 to April 2022, with durations from four days in Belfast through to 18 days on the Kerala & India’s Beautiful South tour. The solos range, which was soft-launched online

in November 2019 ahead of the brochure, offers 25 short-haul, 14 long-haul and six Christmas 2020 tours.

Newmarket Holidays has added 36 tours to its Holidays & Tours Collection 2020-22 brochure. Additions include a trip to Georgia, where Europe meets

All tours include sole-occupancy rooms, usually

with a twin or double bed, a dedicated tour manager, welcome or farewell get-togethers, excursions, meals, flights from a range of regional airports, and access to a new online community forum due to launch shortly. There are no single supplement charges. Niel Alobaidi, chief executive, said: “This is a

massive growth area and we need to be there for people who want to travel on their own. “This is data-led; we can clearly see that we were

missing out without this specific product. “We have seen growth in demand for single-

occupancy rooms and we have massively increased our capacity for single rooms on existing tours for this.” The operator has also changed its website to make

it easier for solo travellers to search for holidays for one person and see the correct price. newmarketholidays.co.uk

Asia; a two-centre holiday in Luxor and Hurghada, Egypt; and a rail-focused tour of India. A 14-day Kenya beach and safari holiday costs from £2,399, including a night in a ‘stilt hotel’. A Venice Carnival & Verona

holiday costs from £599 for five days. Also new is a 17-day Peru, Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands tour, costing from £3,959. It

includes Machu Picchu and five days in the Galapagos. Agents can win prizes if they

find one of 40 golden tickets hidden in the new brochures. Richard Forde, head of agency

sales, said: “We’re hoping this promotion will encourage travel agents to read all about the latest additions to our programme.” newmarketholidays.co.uk
