Kuoni adds destinations in Mediterranean and Italy

Kuoni is expanding into Montenegro, Kos and Milan in 2018 as it looks to position itself as a serious player in the premium short-haul market.


The destinations feature in


Kuoni’s 2018-19 Mediterranean brochure and its standalone 2018 Italy brochure. The operator has also added


resorts across both programmes, boosting its number of properties across Europe to more than 240. Montenegro has been introduced


to the Mediterranean brochure with a property in the coastal resort of Tivat. In neighbouring Croatia, Kuoni has added hotels in Dubrovnik and Split. The Greek island of Kos is also


new, and features four hotels. A further addition in Greece


is the five-star Eagles Villas in Halkidiki, which has 40 luxury villas with heated pools. Also new to the Mediterranean


brochure is the Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, which opened in June, and luxury resorts in Majorca, Menorca, Cyprus and Madeira. In the Italy brochure, Milan

GRJ Independent aims new rail tours at under-50s market


Rail operator GRJ Independent has designed new itineraries aimed at different age groups after reporting increased demand for train holidays from under-50s. The company, a division of Great


Rail Journeys, revealed advance bookings for 2018 were double those of a year ago. Attributing the rise to the growing appeal of rail travel across different sectors of the market, the operator has put together itineraries to appeal to young professionals and families as well as mature adventurers. The Magnificent Eastern & Oriental Express tour, aimed at young professionals, visits Thailand and Singapore, and costs from £3,310 including flights. A 10-day family holiday to Lake


Garda in Italy includes return standard class travel from London to Desenzano del Garda and offers seven nights at a four-star hotel, from £1,065 for a family of four. Also new is a 10-day Majestic


Tour of India, aimed at mature travellers. It includes return flights from London to New Delhi, the Shatabdi Express train to Agra, and seven nights’ B&B, excursions, transfers and guides, from £1,735. GRJ Independent has also
