Jet2 unveils host of new routes for summer 2019

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have added four destinations from Birmingham, two from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, and upped capacity from East Midlands for summer 2019.
Kefalonia in Greece, Pula
in Croatia, Verona in Italy and Bergerac in France are new from Birmingham, where Jet2 will offer 41 destinations next summer, 30% more than this year. Capacity for summer 2019 has also been increased to the Balearic and Canary islands, mainland Spain, the Algarve, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey from Birmingham, from which Jet2 started flying in 2016. The airline and operator has also added Bodrum in Turkey and the Greek island of Corfu as destinations from Edinburgh, where it has increased capacity overall by 7% for summer 2019.

Ethiopian expands Heathrow link to Addis Ababa to 10 flights a week
Ethiopian Airlines will operate an extra three flights a week between Heathrow and Addis Ababa this summer, taking its services from London to 10 a week and offering links across Africa and Asia. The carrier already flies daily from Heathrow and will add second Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday departures from June 2 to October 27.

are additions from next May as Jet2 and Jet2holidays increase services by 11%. Across the two Scottish airports, Jet2 will have more than 1.7 million seats on sale to 41 destinations for summer 2019 – and has promised more announcements. A further 70,000 seats have been added from East Midlands, where Jet2holidays is the largest operator. Capacity has been increased by 8% from the airport,
with more flights to destinations in Turkey, Spain and Portugal. More, and larger, aircraft have
been drafted in to the four airports to provide the extra capacity. Chief executive Steve Heapy
said: “We’re not done yet, so keep an eye out for even more great summer 2019 news from your local airport.” At Stansted, Jet2 has added 50,000 seats for this summer, plus a
Turin ski route for winter 2018-19.

The new flights arrive into Addis Ababa just
before 8pm, offering connections the same evening to African destinations including Entebbe (Uganda), Johannesburg, Kigali (Rwanda), Lusaka (Zambia), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and Nairobi. Services will also connect the same evening
to Asian destinations Delhi, Mumbai, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Tokyo and Seoul. Ethiopian UK country manager Michael Yohannes said: “This increase in capacity paves the way to possibly extend our reach to other parts of the UK.”
