Mobile training ‘super-app’ goes live with 50-plus courses

Juliet Dennis

A “super-app” focused on training and sales via a mobile phone has been developed specifically for travel agents. TheSource is available on Apple Store and Google

Play. Developed by mobile specialist TravPro Mobile, it claims to be the first globally accessible super app for the travel trade. It features more than 50 destinations, experiences

and hotels as bite-sized training modules accessible via an agent’s mobile. Traditional content is supplemented by interactive

elements, TravPro TV and free virtual events. As agents progress through training they can

access extra modules and download sales materials, including visitor guides, videos, maps, infographics and brochures, to share with clients.

Los Angeles kicks off drive for sports tourism bookings with webinar

The Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board has a new trade webinar highlighting the city’s attractions for sports fans. The 26-minute video includes information about major sporting events, local teams, tickets, stadium tours, golf courses and motorsports. The tourist board will provide agents with tools to help sell sports-themed holidays, including training portals and e-newsletters. discoverlosangeles.com/travel-trade

TravPro Mobile’s supplier partners can update

content and access an analytics dashboard showing sales data to identify which agents are “super-users” and “super-sellers”. The idea is to link supplier training to bookings to

show return on investment. The company said the app aims to provide a

one-stop solution for agent upskilling. At launch, the app has destination modules on

Canada, California, Peru, Thailand and central Europe, mainly from tourist boards. Product training comes from suppliers including

Tauck, the Globus family of brands, Universal Studios, Lindblad Expeditions, Mexican hotel chain Posadas and Leading Hotels of the World. Other suppliers such as Tourism Cares and Rail Europe offer agents the chance to upskill on specific areas such as sustainable travel. thesource.travel
