Atas members to showcase world at Manchester event


Atas supplier members are set to bring the highlights of destinations including South Africa, India, Japan and Jordan to this month’s conference in Manchester as part of the event’s interactive trade fair. Te Atas Conference, which


takes place from September 18-19, will feature themed stands from the association’s 29 supplier members and 21 associate members.Tey include country-themed stands and the chance to learn about tiger conservation, plus photo opportunities and prize giveaways. Atas chairman Paul Melinis said:

Virgin opens in four more Next stores across the UK

Virgin Holidays is opening four concessions in Next in as many weeks as it continues to build its high street presence within larger stores.


Te agency opened in Basildon’s


Next store on August 30, its first site in Essex, aſter opening in Swansea’s branch of the fashion retailer on August 23. Two more concessions are due to


open in Next branches in Basingstoke on September 6, and in Eastwood, Notinghamshire, on September 13. Te four openings will take the


number of Virgin Holidays branches in Next stores across the UK to 31, in addition to its 15 concessions within Debenhams department stores and 14 standalone v-rooms. Rachel Wilton, head of retail at

Leggett quits GRJ to join JTA


Travel as regional sales manager JTA Travel has appointed Amanda Leggett as regional sales manager for Scotland, the north- east and Yorkshire. Leggett joins from Great Rail Journeys, where she was business development manager. Her appointment follows that of Diane Court, who left USAirtours in July to become regional sales manager for the Midlands, south- west and Wales. They join existing team members Zoe Holt, Harry Taylor and Duncan Croucher.

Liverpool gets go-ahead to start


work on £50m cruise terminal Plans for Liverpool’s long-awaited new £50 million cruise terminal on the Mersey have been approved. The new terminal will be built on the site of the derelict Princes Jetty, after it is dismantled. Work is expected to start in the new year. The new terminal will enable cruise ships carrying up to 3,600 passengers to embark and disembark at Liverpool.
