The future of home heating is largely focused on the use of heat pumps. Dennis Milligan from the British Flue and Chimney Manufacturers Association (BFCMA) looks at how they can be combined with wood burning stoves as secondary heating
cannot respond quickly to temperature changes. In the autumn and spring when it is not cold enough to justify putting on the central heating system, wood burning stoves can provide comfortable heating for the whole house. As stoves operate independently from the electric supply, homeowners with stoves are also able to continue heating their homes in a power cut.
