BEWI showcases the future of housebuilding at UK Construction Week
C
ome on to BEWI’s stand at UK Construction Week and find out how sustainable houses of the future will
be built.
BEWI building systems include the ICF system THERMOMUR®
concrete raft system JACKODUR® thermally efficient buildings,
and the insulated ATLAS.
They enable the rapid construction of highly
with
market leading air tightness and excellent acoustic insulation.
These systems are revolutionising sustainable house construction in the UK. The JACKODUR®
(XPS) insulation and formwork system is for floor slabs, while THERMOMUR®
ATLAS Extruded Polystyrene is a robust
pre-formed wall block with a hollow core manufactured with Expanded Polystyrene (EPS). The empty core is filled with a concrete pour during construction.
When planning a new bathroom or modernising old bathrooms, ideas can be implemented easily and safely with the
JACKOBOARD® construction boards,
which are the ideal substrate for all types of ceramic, porcelain, or natural stone tiles. Thanks to their extruded polystyrene foam core and the special coating on both sides, the JACKOBOARD®
ideal base for plaster and tile. The surfaces of the JACKOBOARD®
construction boards are the system provide a
strong primer and can be used on virtually any substrate. At the same time, they are water repellant, thermally insulating, light and sturdy.
BEWI designs its product range to help its customers move towards zero energy construction, whether they are building a house from scratch or just fitting out a new wetroom. We are experts in the manufacture of building systems, insulation, packaging and other specialist products made from expanded
(EPS) and extruded (XPS)
polystyrene, produced for the construction and other industries.
At BEWI all surplus materials are recycled ADF09_Jackon / BEWI_UK Construction Week Show
Preview_HPAdv.indd 1 Two dividing walls for Edinburgh Golf Clubhouse
Working directly with Kingsknowe Golf Club, Style was contracted to install two folding walls to section off parts of the clubhouse lounge and bar, adding greater adaptability to the internal layout. David Louden, Style’s director for Scotland said: “Installing two Stylefold 900 folding walls provides exceptional fl exibility, allowing the clubhouse to be either left as an open plan room, or to be segregated into separate areas for different social events and meetings. The internal blinds on the larger of the two walls offer a greater level of privacy when required.” The request to divide the clubhouse space was initially for just one folding wall, however after they saw the quality of Style’s work, and the benefi ts that the fl exible space afforded, a second partition was added a few months later. The initial folding wall enables staff to section off a small, private dining room away from the main lounge bar. This is ideal for competitions, visiting societies and other gatherings. The second wall further divides the room, giving a greater level of privacy when shut thanks to internal blinds between the glass.

Leisure_D-Edit.indd 1 Automatic entrance enhances hotel
The Travelodge Kendal, in Cumbria, benefi ts from a set of automatic sliding entrance doors that work in tandem to create a reception area that can be easily accessed by all guests. TORMAX, renowned for their expertise in door automation, partnered with Coupe Aluminium to design a reception area, recommending their Windrive 2201 sliding door operator as the perfect option to power the bi-parting doors. Operational in high-traffi c hubs around the world, the TORMAX Windrive is a compact and discrete operator with a deserved reputation for steadfast reliability. Having undergone extensive testing that far surpasses current industry requirements, the Windrive operator measures just 142 mm x 100 mm, yet is still capable of powering a double set of doors weighing up to 100 kg per leaf. “TORMAX entrances are a preferred option for welcoming hotel guests nationwide,” confi rms Simon Roberts, MD for TORMAX UK. “In addition to our successful collaborations with well-known brands like Hilton and Ibis, we take pride in having delivered tailor-made solutions to numerous independent hotels over our extensive 60+ years of operation.”
