We are confident that the Trustee Board have an ambitious plan of varied projects to prepare the Flavel for the future - you will hear more about these as the campaign develops but the following give a flavour of what we plan to do:
• We have initiated a full solar power survey on the property to enable us to fit solar panels and battery storage facilities which will have a significant impact on our future energy costs. Depending on the survey and costs it may also be possible for the system to enable us to sell back unused stored power to the grid.

FLAVEL CONTINUES TO BE HERE FOR OURSELVES AND THE NEXT GENERATION.
• We are working with Libraries Unlimited* (Dart- mouth Library) to utilise some of their space to dou- ble the size of our coffee shop. Libraries Unlimited are fully committed to this idea. We have also asked if they could consider developing the library area to become a Library of the Future, utilising all the digi- tal initiatives that they are working on. This has been very positively received and will certainly create an enhanced offer for our community. The resultant coffee shop will have more space and enable us to incorporate the bar into this area as well as improv- ing the quality of space and atmosphere.
• There are also opportunities to increase the Flavel ‘offering’, and the year-round service to drive sales as well as using a new improved space as a commu- nity attraction. People are already raising money

individually towards this initiative and we are working on getting some of our local builders to help out as well, like the BBC ‘Build a Project’ programme. One has already signed up! We are also working closely with the Flavel teams to identify where we can improve our financial performance.
• Unfortunately, as with many establish- ments such as ours there is a shortfall in generating sufficient revenues to cover the costs of providing a great commu- nity service. The resultant business plan aims to close this gap as far as we can.
There are other initiatives coming through that we are considering and, as always, if you have an idea that you think will work and
are happy to give us some time to make it work then please get in touch.
Some readers will be concerned that the future of the Flavel is at risk but with your help and our commitment to improve our operations, we will not let that happen. But these plans to improve revenues and develop cost saving investments will inevitably take time and, therefore, we still need your financial support.
