20 TIME OUT

Carols at Christmas Who doesn’t love a festive tune! The BRNC Concert Band will be performing its Christmas Crackers ‘singalong’ concert at the Flavel on 7 December whilst on the same night Britannia Choral Society will be at St Saviour’s Church with their Christmas Concert. Dartington Hall has a number of concerts …..And don’t forget the ultimate community Christmas Eve event Carols in Bayards Cove - perfect for sharing seasonal spirit.. whatever the weather (check facebook for details).

“Here we come A-wassailing..” The ancient tradition of wassailing returns to our orchards in January. ‘Tis the time to soak your toast in cider, grab your pans and bless the fruit trees to encourage new growth and a good harvest next season. Head to the popular and magical event at Stoke Gabriel on 18 January for an evening packed with culture, cheer, morris dancing, folk music, and a little cider too… Check Stoke Gabriel Wassail facebook page for more details.

Tempting deals Winter months are the perfect time to grab a bargain and in the new year many local pubs, club and restau- rants will draw you in with tempting deals. There are quiz, music & bingo nights and special offers all around so keep your eyes out and support your local venue. The Royal Dart Yacht Club is opening its doors (and its unique view) to non-members offering a special Thursday supper offer of 2 for £30 (main & dessert for 2) and Sunday lunch from £17 per head. remember, remember the 5th of November…

It’s behind you! Yes it’s that season again and there are plenty of dames and dastardly characters on stage to keep every- one amused. You could head for the big names at Torquay’s Princess Theatre in Jack and the Beanstalk (atgtickets.com) or to Plymouth’s Theatre Royal for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But if you prefer something more local try a local Amateur Dramatic Production - Totnes ‘The Three Musketeers’ (TAODS) in January and Brixham’s TOADS ‘Nativity The Musical’.
