Puralube invests in API Group III premium base oil production at its production site in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany


Puralube Group decided at its last board meeting to further expand its production site in the industrial park in Zeitz in the south of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany which will allow for the production of premium base oils (API Group III). By investing in this technology Puralube will be the first manufacturer in the world to provide API Group III base oils of this quality on the basis of used oil.


“I am very pleased that our Board has decided to approve this investment” said Chief Executive Officer Mr. Andreas Schueppel. Production of a new generation of premium base oils will take effect from Q1 2017. Production capacity will be 50,000 tons per year. Together with the company UOP/USA, the leading developer of key-technologies in the field of oil refining, Puralube has developed the most innovative technology and licensed exclusively HyLube™ technology worldwide.


In addition to the outstanding quality of the oils, this investment provides excellent environmental benefits to society. In particular producing such oils on the basis of used engine oil greatly reduces CO2 emissions from the production process when compared to conventional methods.


Puralube Holding GmbH is the German subsidiary of the US-based parent company Puralube, Inc. Since 2003, the company produced an annual capacity of 150,000 tons of base oils in the industrial park in Zeitz.
