AXEL France: New site to maintain leadership

Founded in 1912 and based in the town of Niort, AXEL France is now a subsidiary of the Swedish Axel Christiernsson Group. Throughout the years, it had become a leading manufacturer of lubricating greases with a market share in France of more than 25%. In 2006, in order to consolidate its position as European leader in lubricating greases under the ‘Customised Label™’ concept, Swedish manufacturer Axel Christiernsson International AB acquired the company Christol Grease which was later renamed AXEL France. In 2013, the AXEL Group, with five grease plants worldwide, decided to invest in and modernise the Niort operation.
With advanced technology and clear environmental commitment, AXEL France has developed a full ‘food grade’ range of lubricants, all H1 listed by the NSF and also Halal and Kosher certified. In addition, the company was very early in adopting the ISO 21469 standard on cleanliness for the equipment and production environment used within the food industry. A range of biodegradable products also exists since several years back and the demand for Eco label products is continually growing.
A New Dimension
About a year ago, AXEL France acquired an alternative building within Niort and has recently completed the process of relocation. At this new site, the company will benefit from updated modern technologies, notably with supervision to trace all manufacturing in compliance with commitment to quality for its customers. AXEL France has also recruited new and qualified personnel to secure its international growth, strengthening the Group’s presence in Asia, Italy, Spain, Portugal and northern Africa.
