EVENTS Annual Dinner 2021 A night of celebration!
Oh what a night! It’s fair to say that pretty much all 340 guests who attended UKLA’s flagship gala evening on 10th November for the prestigious Annual Dinner 2021 - Towards a New Horizon, were unanimous in declaring the event a resounding success.
The last two years of disruption and despair, brought about by the COVID pandemic have had a dramatic impact on many of the professional networking events that our industry is so widely respected for; there have been numerous cancellations and postponements throughout the sector. So the fact that this year’s Annual Dinner was able to go ahead felt particularly special and was deeply appreciated by all our guests, many of whom had flown into London especially for the occasion, from as far away as the USA, Europe and the Far East.
UKLA’s last Annual Dinner took place in 2019 so it was both a great relief and a great pleasure to be able to welcome in person so many esteemed members and their guests and clients. The stunning venue of 8 Northumberland Avenue, was, for the second time, our setting for this special night of celebration and thanks.
Those who are familiar with the evening know it is as much about meeting, mingling and networking on the night as it is a celebration of the work and effort that goes on behind the scenes. The UKLA is committed to working tirelessly for its members and stakeholders, representing members’ interests both here and abroad through participation in consultation, lobbying to UK and European Government and industry authorities alongside sharing knowledge

through training, preparation of communications on industry developments and legislation and providing industry networking events. And the UKLA Annual Dinner is the flagship event of the UKLA for the UK Lubricants industry.
This year, we were honoured to welcome the President of UEIL, Valentina Serra Holm and UEIL Secretary General, Russell Patten; ILMA’s Chief Executive, Holly Alfano and its President, Michael Damiani and President of ELGI, Terry Dicken to the Dinner on the night.
Traditionally, one of the evening’s highlights is the much anticipated Annual Awards Ceremony, where key industry figures are recognised for their contribution and commitment to the industry throughout the year. 2021 was no exception. This year’s awards were presented by Andrew Goddard, the UKLA new President:
President’s Award - David Hopkinson, Past president of UKLA Board for 2019 and 2020 (Simon Brander accepted the award in his absence) Special Award of Council - Alan Outhwaite, ex Chevron – recently retired, in recognition of his outstanding contribution within the industry
