Publishing Assistant Universal Music Group UK

Job of the Week

Remote/London £100,000pa+, plus bonuses

Executive Editor (Non-fiction/Business) Kevin Anderson & Associates Ltd

Enjoy the fun, creative, and meaningful work that drew you to a career in publishing, but without the corporate politics, unnecessary meetings, red tape or daily commute. Join the fast-growing team of former publishers and commissioning editors at KAA and spend your working hours actually editing books and working with authors. The role of executive editor will focus exclusively on

hands-on creative work with authors, agents and publishers, including building books from the ground up and evaluating and editing full-length manuscripts and pitch materials. As well as the opportunity to help writers typically shut out by traditional publishing, there will also be the potential of big titles with major publishers. The ideal candidate will have been involved in the publication of multiple Sunday Times bestsellers and will have experience with a variety of genres, though we are most interested in an editor with a strong background in non-fiction, specifically smart thinking, business and leadership. There will also be an opportunity to participate in our Tuscan Writer Retreats, so a candidate who would be comfortable and enthused by the chance to work face-to-face with a select group of authors would be preferable. This role also includes cultivating and nurturing potential and existing client relationships with agents, publishers, editors and authors. Considerable sales commission bonuses will be granted for bringing in any business related to our firm’s services.

We are looking for a new detail-oriented and efficient Publishing Assistant to join our team, primarily to support one of our Agents. Oloni Dee, Arthur C Brooks and Oprah Winfrey, as well as many other bestselling and prize-winning writers of fiction and non-fiction.

This is a role for someone who has a strong combination of publishing skills and entrepreneurial energy and is fired up by the challenge of helping to scale an artist-centric book publishing business within the music industry. You will need to have a talent for learning quickly in a fast-paced environment, have both a creative and a commercial outlook, be able

to easily switch gears between artist, genre, format and project, and develop the skill of looking round corners. And, of course, you will need to love music.
