Happy Gilmore: The Strawberry Patch Pancake House hits the top spot
World Book Day titles have transformed the Top 50 as Laurie Gilmore claims her first-ever number one

aurie Gilmore has tossed aside the competition to claim the top spot with The Strawberry Patch Pancake House in the
Official UK Top 50 in the latest data from Nielsen BookScan’s Total Consumer Market (TCM). The fourth book in the Dream
Harbor series has sold 25,863 copies in its first three days on sale, a single-week sales figure that this year has only been beaten only by Rebecca Yarros’ Onyx Storm and Jamie Oliver’s Easy Air Fryer. It is Gilmore’s first-ever number
one and her biggest week to date, beating her personal best by over
10,000 units (The Christmas Tree Farm sold 14,720 in its first week on sale in October 2024). The Dream Harbor series has sold a total of 477,246 copies since the The Pumpkin Spice Café was released in 2023. Although the day itself has passed,
positions two to eight of the Top 10 are occupied by the WBD titles, but Bluey loses her crown as the most popular, slipping behind Tales from Acorn Wood and Adventures of Paddington: Farm Escape!. In total, the WBD books have seen
168,976 copies pass through the tills in the past seven days – an expected decline of 59.6% compared with the previous week, but up 11.6% against
the same period in 2024. In total, the class of 2025 has racked up a figure of 1,148,407 copies since they were released in mid-February, 7.3% more than 2024’s list had achieved by the same point. And WBD books still dominate
the upper echelons of this week’s charts, grabbing 12 spots from second place to 14th with only Ann Cleeves interrupting them, sneaking in at 10th with the paper- back edition of the latest Vera Stanhope, The Dark Wives, in its launch week. With 11,550 copies shifted, The Dark Wives has had a small growth of 0.8%, compared with the mass market release of 2024’s The Raging Storm. The new titles from Gilmore and
Cleeves top the Mass-Market Fiction chart, with last week’s number one – Wild Side by Elsie Silver – dropping to seventh place, just ahead of the latest new title from Freida McFadden. The Sourcebooks edition of Ward D sold 7,427 copies – 65.6% down compared
The Best of the Hairy Bikers sits hirsutely in 15th place: Si King and the late Dave Myers
