The Radio 2 Book Club is a BBC show segment and podcast, hosted by Sara Cox, which celebrates new fiction and authors through weekly interviews, reviews and reading recommendations. Partnering with The Reading Agency, it highlights a mix of new voices and popular authors, with books selected by a panel of librarians and readers.

Radio 2 Book Club

Choosing a book of the year from such a brilliant selection of novels was a real challenge. A Radio 2 Book Club pick is a novel that you will want to thrust into other readers’ hands; a story that offers escapism, is well written and stays with you long after you have finished it. The judges debated long and hard, taking into account the quality of the writing, the story, the impact on them as readers and, ultimately, what makes a Radio 2 Book Club book. After much discussion, the panel reached their decision. Roisín O’Donnell’s Nesting, the Radio 2 Book Club Award winner, is beautifully

written, powerful and timely. It is full of heart and heartache – and has stayed with the judges for weeks after reading it.
