The installation had to be sympathetic to the property within strict guidelines. For example, the original fire surround is actually still intact, but cleverly concealed with the new ‘mantle’ arrangement. A supporting timber post was built around and clad with mirrors. Close collaboration with the client’s architect, builder, electrician and plumber was a must thanks to the complexity of the design. Parking was in short supply, so all deliveries had to be coordinated. Tradesmen were ‘delivered’ to site and collected at the end of the day. Security was also an issue because of the property’s central location, so everyone was briefed on measures to be adopted. Communication between all parties was absolutely vital to ensure a successful project.
