3 EDITOR’S COMMENT

NEW YEAR, NEW STRATEGY

s the industry enters a new year – one that could potentially throw up some challenges along the way – the general theme of this issue appears to be ‘new’. We’re talking to businesses and brands from across the KBB industry about new strategies, new showrooms, new ideas, new trends and new opportunities. Our big interview this month is an exclusive

with Barbara Borra [pages 26-28], the CEO and president of Franke’s Home Solutions division. She talks in detail about the division’s new

approach to the market and exactly what that means for its independent retail network in the UK.

Quite unintentionally both of our supplier profi les take us to Leeds this month. First up we’re talking to Danny Lay [pages 33-35], MD of Caple, about the launch of its new Caple Studio in the city centre and we get the low down on how the brand fared so well meeting demand despite the ripple effect of Covid on the appliance supply chain. Then, we’re speaking to Richard Sharp [37-39], MD of Phoenix

Bathrooms about its new strategy, key investments and why it’s good for bathroom retailers. This month’s featured retailer is Premiere Klasse [pages 52-54].

Director Kristian Tolbod shows us around its second premises – the new showroom in the affl uent town of Ascot, Berkshire, and explains what selling ‘luxury’ kitchens really means. And, last but by no means least, I’m extremely excited to be able to tell you that we have our fi nalists for the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards 2023. In case you missed the big reveal on the latest episode of the kbbreview Podcast [pod.kbbreview.com] you can fi nd out who’s made the shortlist on page 6. Look out for the full details on each fi nalist in the February issue.

It would be good to hear your views on any of these interviews and

features, and to hear about the changes you’re making to your own business as the new year takes shape.
