Countdown begins to kbbreview awards
EXCITEMENT IS building for The kbbreview Retail & Design Awards 2023 event, taking place on Thursday, April 20 in Cardiff. Nearly 800 retailers, designers, suppliers and influencers will gather at the biggest KBB industry event of 2023. There the winners of the most prestigious trophies in the sector will be revealed.

Awards event has been running for 29 years and includes categories for the best designers, retailers, showrooms, and installers.
It is also sponsored by some of the biggest brands in the sector, including Franke, Impey, Masterclass Kitchens, SycamoreLED, Samsung, Ideal Standard, Hansgrohe, kbb Birmingham 2024, SENSTEC, Blum, Flair, CDA, VitrA, InSinkErator, Roca,
Neff, Meir, Bathroom Brands, Used Kitchen Exchange and Sonas Bathrooms.
The event will start with a Welcome to Cardiff drinks reception courtesy of LightTower by Hettich, followed by the ceremony itself with a top celebrity host. At a special point in the night, one of the guests in the room will win an incredible £5,000 thanks to the Grand Prize Partner Schlüter Systems. And the evening is capped by the legendary Quooker Club After Party until the small hours of the morning. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone to the 2023 awards. We’ve got loads of surprises planned and it’s going to be an amazing evening,” said kbbreview editor Rebecca Nottingham. “It’s all about everyone celebrating the very best of the industry and it’s going to incredible.”

Retailer survey reveals what consumers are looking for in a kitchen
CONSUMERS ARE looking for colour, islands and boiling water taps, according to the survey of Kutchenhaus dealers across the country. It showed that blues and greens are being asked for most, with 83% of dealers saying one or the other when asked which colours they had seen grow in popularity. Black was the next most popular with 26% mentioning this either on its own or alongside other tones such as blue, green or gold. Interestingly, only 17% referenced grey.
An overwhelming 70% of surveyed showrooms said that more than half of their kitchens feature an island. “Everyone wants an island”, said Barry Reed, owner of Kutchenhaus Huddersfield. “There is a clear demand for this to be the centrepiece of the room and they’re one of the first things customers discuss when planning their space. Their versatility makes them so appealing and, when featured in an open-plan kitchen, they’re perfect for cooking big meals but also hosting friends and family.” Handleless kitchens also continue to be common, with 43% of respondents
citing it as the most popular style of kitchen their customers have chosen recently. Looking at ‘must-have’ appliances, the Quooker boiling water tap led the way
with 57% of showrooms naming it specifically, closely followed by an increasing trend for integrated downdraft hobs from the likes of AEG and Bora. Nadine Kimani, marketing manager for Kutchenhaus said: “It’s always interesting for us to gauge what appliances our customers are looking for, and boiling water taps are certainly very desired based on the responses received.” Owned by Nobilia, Europe’s largest kitchen manufacturer, Kutchenhaus was established in the UK in 2004 and now has over 60 franchised showrooms.
