Case Study // Sola Kitchens

design case study A rose-tinted retreat

Scandinavian-style specialists Sola Kitchens have created a breathtaking kitchen at Midgham House, with the client requesting a space both minimalist and luxurious

Words: George Dean // Photography: Darren Chung // Styling: Studio Miaki S

ituated in the grounds of a grand country estate, the client tasked Sola Kitchens with creating a colourful chef-worthy kitchen, which also made the most of this orangery-style room with bursts

of eclectic styling. According to Sola, the homeowner specifically requested a pink and rose palette for both the cabinetry and stone worktops, along with a French-style cooker hood. Another request was to incorporate a charming hanging rail to hold copper pans which would be used daily, and for the door and sink furniture to offer a mixture of copper and brass finishes. This client also wanted the space to feature one door

connecting to the rest of the house, and another that would lead to a walk-in larder – both of which had to form a seamless part of the kitchen cabinetry. Sola Kitchens made the most of this expansive space, and set the stage with a three-metre-long island as a focal point. A personally requested country-style cooker hood hangs above the hob and three ovens, which draws the eye upwards to the room’s incredible lantern roof. Behind the hob, the rose-coloured splashback also

incorporates a step-shelf for holding ingredients and spices. On one side of the range, Sola Kitchens’ signature Fjord

style bleached oak veneer-fronted base drawers, paired with a run of glass-fronted wall cupboards, feature prominently on the back wall. On the opposite side of the kitchen, a run of cabinetry has

been blended with wall panels, which cleverly conceal hidden entrances and storage, along with a professional-style fridge and freezer. This all works together to preserve the kitchen’s elegant and uncluttered atmosphere.
