Lithium-ion Battery Now Available for Robinson R44
Robinson Helicopter Company recently added the TB17 lithium-ion battery to its R44 options. TB17 by True Blue Power, a division of Mid-Continent Instrument, offers
improved longer life.

At 16 pounds, the TB17 is substantially lighter than the R44’s standard 29.5-pound battery, reducing the helicopter’s overall weight by 13.5 pounds. Lithium-ion chemistry provides a higher voltage than lead-acid batteries for improved starter performance. The lithium-ion battery’s internal heater ensures
optimal performance in cold
temperatures as low as -40°C. Typical battery life is 8 years with minimal required maintenance (visual inspection and capacity check) every 2 years.
The
TB17 battery passed rigorous manufacturer and FAA tests to ensure safety. An indicator light on the instrument console’s annunciator panel warns the pilot if a battery fault is detected. During
fault conditions, the battery
automatically takes itself off-line. Built- in circuitry prevents overcharge and/or overheating, and the TB17’s advanced Nanophosphate®
susceptible to thermal runaway than many other lithium-ion batteries.
New Home for NHV’s H155 Fleet
NHV Group recently announced the sale of its remaining H155 aircraft to HeliGlobe (Denmark). The brokerage company entered into the agreement on behalf of its client Air Greenland. The six aircraft will be delivered over a period of six months starting in the first quarter of next year.
“This phasing-out project is part of NHV’s ongoing fleet rationalization strategy. Whilst they have always served us well as we have grown our business and developed new markets, the time is right to give them a new purpose. With HeliGlobe we have found the ideal partner to give our H155 fleet a second lifecycle,” said NHV’s Fleet Manager Frederik Deley.
“The company has been actively managing its fleet by renewing older aircraft with newer technology aircraft, while also reducing the number of fleet types the company operates for oil and gas. Replacing older aircraft with newer technology aircraft provides greater efficiencies, more capabilities, and improved reliability for clients, and is central to NHV’s long-term success,” added Thomas Hütsch, COO of the NHV Group.

NHV Group currently operates a standardized fleet of 64 aircraft. The company has recently invested in highly advanced Airbus H175, H145, Leonardo AW169 and AW139 aircraft to support new contracts.
