Top tips for assemblies YPO
@ypoinfo
We took to Facebook to ask you what your top tips are to make assemblies more fun, engaging and inspiring…
Jamie Ollerenshaw
“Rather than traditional assemblies sitting/standing make them interactive so students can freely move and experience the topic e.g. Summer solstice have a stone circle, a band, some singers, tent and refreshments table etc in the hall at once.”
Emily Rose “We often get all the staff involved acting out stories and scenarios. The children love it!”
Stacie Banks “Ensure that song choices are relevant, engaging and easy to learn. Often if the older pupils have some involvement
in choosing them then they are very enthusiastic about singing them, inspiring the whole school to join in.” Shell Bx
“Songs or videos coupled
with...Props! It gets the kids involved to use/hold them! They all want to be involved and they can be as wacky and out there as you like! The bigger the better too!!”
Sarah Louise Oxley “Be relevant to the pupils and the real world.”
Sarah Jane “Props and opportunities for the pupils to get involved/engage. Make it fun and memorable.”
Katie Ockenden “Current and relevant topics, music they can relate to and get the children involved as much as possible.”
