the next generation… Primary Futures
volunteers can help you do just that.
Didn’t we all become teachers to inspire
Our Primary Futures volunteers
Volunteers from all walks of life are encouraged to register via the ‘Sign Up’ tab on our website:
https://primaryfutures.org/ volunteers/how-to-volunteer/
They come from multi-national companies to local employers, CEOs to apprentices, and cover a wide range of jobs and industries, all having one thing in common … a desire to share their world and inspire the children.
We ask our volunteers to offer just a couple of hours a year, although experience tells us many give more than that as they find working with the children highly rewarding as their feedback demonstrates.
We know schools are also really good at finding volunteers who are not yet registered for PF. We encourage them to try to persuade these volunteers, who may be friends, parents from school or other local people, to register on the database so that other children may benefit from their valuable input. As more schools join us, we need to keep growing our volunteer numbers.
The Wakefield events
The response from school leaders in Wakefield has been fantastic, inspired by Tracey Lake, Headteacher at Wheldon Infants in Castleford, whose enthusiasm and determination to see Wakefield really embrace PF has been a joy to watch! As she stated in one of her many presentations, “didn’t we all become teachers to inspire the next generation … Primary Futures volunteers can help you do just that!” By the end of the autumn term over 30 Wakefield schools will have become fully engaged with more to follow I have no doubt!
The partnership between Wakefield NAHT and YPO was crucial in providing a meeting base where we could all gather to plan dates, activities and share our ideas as Primary Futures was rolled out across the city. Other key partners also joined us from the Wakefield Council Education and Skills department providing additional ideas and useful contacts, as well as distributing emails far and wide and making telephone calls on our behalf to Wakefield companies, which generated more fantastic volunteers for the children.
The South Parade Primary School launch in February was a stunning morning with over 50 volunteers and school leaders joining the fun.
As Primary Futures grows across the country and more schools register the question is…can any other area see a response like Wakefield where the bar has been set so high?

The hard work put in by Acting Headteacher Emma Fieldhouse and her enthusiastic team really paid off. Without a doubt the most exciting, enjoyable PF launch I have seen to date! The impact on the children had to be seen to be believed! The ripples from the launch then continued across the city as school after school developed their own PF ideas, delivering a series of stunning events and activities (

Each Wakefield school’s Primary Futures event is unique and personal to the children, staff and volunteers involved; the common denominator is the wow factor from everyone taking part which clearly shows through many tweets @PrimaryFutures and the impact on the children…which is what PF is all about!
