This edition is themed around the environment. Understanding our impact on the environment and teaching future generations about this is so important. We’ve provided some advice, tips and insight to support you in this area.
Our regular ‘Diary of’ feature is by Samantha Westerman, the eco–schools leader at Copley Junior School. The school aims to empower its pupils, by engaging them in fun, action–orientated and socially responsible learning about the environment. Hear about the different initiatives and activities that take place on pages 6–7.
Eco–Schools have shared 100 lesson ideas linking the 10 Eco–Schools topics to 10 different subjects in school. Environmental issues can provide a powerful context to enrich learning in all subjects and we hope to provide some inspiration and make this an easier task with the handy ideas. You’ll find these on pages 11–13.
We also have a guest feature from Twinkl. Oliver Wright from the Leader’s Digest team focuses on how schools and teachers can make a difference with regard to environmental issues (pages 8–9).
Don’t miss our fantastic competition on the back page, to win an eco–friendly products bundle worth £100!
We hope you enjoy the magazine! Our next edition will be out in April.
