100 lesson ideas from Eco–Schools

Francis Hyland, Eco–Schools Coordinator and Lee Wray–Davies, Eco–Schools Manager

Rather than seeing environmental issues and the Eco–Schools programme as a barrier to learning, it should be thought of as a learning aid. With children more passionate about their environment than ever before (in part thanks to individuals like David Attenborough raising awareness and Greta Thunberg empowering young people), environmental issues can provide a powerful context to enrich learning in all subjects. Best of all using eco–issues to enhance your pupils’ learning is inclusive – all children can relate to environmental issues and all are affected by climate change.

With this in mind, we’ve created the handy crib sheet on the next two pages, providing 100 different lesson ideas linking the 10 Eco–Schools topics to 10 different subjects in school.
