Your favourite activities to teach about environmental awareness and climate change

We took to Facebook to ask you your favourite activity to teach children about environmental awareness and the effects of climate change…
Sara Davies
“I surprised my class by filling the pool with plastic. When they turned up for their “swimming lesson” this is what they were confronted by. They spent time trying to move through all the rubbish to get a sense of the impact plastic pollution has on marine life, and then worked together to sort out the rubbish to recycle.”
Emily Semloh
“A reuse, reduce, recycle project where students bring in an object from home that would normally be thrown away and then have a competition to upcycle – the most useful item wins. We’ve had pinhole cameras made from cans, a toy car made of bottles, piggy banks made of jars, robots made of broken toys and scraps. A creative way of making students think about alternative uses of resources instead of wasting them.”
Candise Marie
“We have litter pickers in EYFS – the children love keeping their playground tidy and sorting the rubbish they find into our recycling bins. They are so proud of doing their bit for our environment!”
