Anchor secures planning for extra care scheme in Newham


Anchor, with the support of architects PRP, has secured planning permission for an extension to Cardamom Court in the London Borough of Newham. The project will see the construction of a


four-storey extension replacing an existing day centre, delivering 37 new affordable extra care apartments for older people and extending the 1990s development to 70 homes, all of which will be 100 per cent affordable. A new entrance will open onto a landscaped


courtyard garden, with communal spaces that encourage social interaction. The scheme aims to achieve biodiversity net gain through careful planting and includes a green roof integrated


with solar panels. Nick Hodgskin, head of regeneration at


Anchor, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Newham Council to deliver an additional 37 high-quality extra care affordable homes for social rent, supporting older people and their evolving needs. Old Malthouse Care Home sold to Follett Care


The Old Malthouse Care Home in Selsey, West Sussex, has been sold to local care operator Follett Care. Registered for 34 residents, the Old


Malthouse specialises in dementia care. It occupies a sixteenth-century property with 30 bedrooms and was originally a working granary and malt house, still retaining many original features. Following a confidential sales process with


Charles Phillips at Christie & Co, it has been purchased by Follett Homes Limited, which operates Follett Care Ltd. Nihal Samareskara, former owner, said:

Cheylesmore Estates sells Hertfordshire site to Oakland Care


Cheylesmore Estates has completed the sale of a site in Hailey, Hertfordshire, with planning consent for a 75-bed premium care home, to Oakland Care. The transaction was brokered by specialist healthcare real estate agent Portunus Associates, with RDT Architects and DLA Town Planning instrumental in securing planning consent. Planning permission was granted on appeal for a bespoke care home featuring en suite wet rooms and a variety of communal spaces, set within landscaped and accessible gardens. The design prioritises outdoor access for all residents, with ground-floor rooms opening onto private terraces and upper floors offering balconies from shared spaces.
