DiMH 2024 PREVIEW
Ryno range ‘now greener than ever’
Furniture manufacturer, Pineapple Furniture, will showcase a number of new products at this year’s event. More than 10 years since
its introduction, Pineapple says its ‘iconic’ Ryno range is now ‘greener than ever’, thanks to the introduction of the OceanGreen shade (see photo), made from 50% recycled content derived from fishing equipment. The company said: “This innovative recycling process prevents the nets reaching our oceans and harming sealife, and reduces the carbon footprint of products made using the recycled polymer.” Many people with sensory
processing needs find comfort in vestibular stimulation, which can be provided by a rocking or swinging motion. The Boden Beanbag Rocker allows users to control how much vestibular input they receive, and to do so in a position which is low to the

ground, making them feel safe and in control of their situation. Pineapple Furniture explained: “The shape, size, and softness of the product provides the supportive feeling of gentle and reassuring wrap-around contact.”
Pineapple will also unveil ‘an
exciting new product which aims to improve safety in mental health environments by addressing safety concerns around the storage of rubbish’.
‘Digital empowerment solution’
With an increasing global focus on more humane healthcare, where the autonomy and individual needs of patients are paramount, Recornect says its CoWin is a ‘digital empowerment solution’ that meets this demand, and has been developed for rooms in medium and high secure mental healthcare settings. Recornect explained: “The
touchscreens are seamlessly integrated into new or existing furniture, and comply with the highest safety standards. Patients have the autonomy to manage crises in their own way. They have access to apps via a user-friendly interface to listen to music, view relaxing images, and play games. Additionally, CoWin is highly

suitable for educational and comfort purposes.” For staff, a manager
application is available to fully personalise the user’s environment with photos, preferred music, a calendar, and a translation app. Staff can also take control by extending or limiting the number of available apps. Recornect added: “CoWin enables safe and responsible communication, even when staff and patient are not in the same room. It has been proven effective for both patients and healthcare personnel, and results in rapid, safe, and humane de-escalation in crisis situations, and successful prevention and crisis management.”
