State-of-the-art Adanac Park Supercentre nears completion

IHSS, a pioneer in medical instrument sterilisation services, is driving forward the establishment of a cutting-edge Sterile Services Unit (SSU) at Adanac Park, Southampton University Hospital. The development of the Supercentre continues to make great strides, reaching several key milestones in the journey to create a cutting- edge facility dedicated to medical device decontamination. This state-of-the-art centre, established in partnership with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, is set to revolutionise the sector, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability. A significant step forward has been achieved

with the awarding of the contract to supply sterilisers and washers to MMM Group, a globally recognised leader in infection control solutions and medical device reprocessing. With decades of experience, this trusted partner delivers

high-quality, reliable, and innovative equipment to healthcare facilities worldwide. The advanced sterilisation and washing systems will ensure that Adanac Park is equipped with the latest technology, upholding the highest standards of hygiene and safety, as well as upholding a commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency. Further progress has been made with the appointment of Bauvill for the facility’s fit-out contract. Renowned for its excellence and innovation in high-quality project delivery, Bauvill brings extensive experience in executing projects across various sectors. Their involvement marks a crucial phase in the construction of Adanac Park, ensuring that the facility meets the highest industry standards. Oander, GM61, and OneCreative have also been instrumental in bringing the project to this pivotal stage. Their contributions have helped shape the vision for this groundbreaking Supercentre, ensuring its seamless progression from concept to reality. As construction advances, another exciting moment has been marked with the installation of IHSS logos on the building. This visual milestone symbolises the near completion of this transformational project. The Adanac Park Supercentre is set to become a leading facility in the South Central region, enhancing the provision of decontamination services and reinforcing IHSS’s role as a trusted partner in healthcare.

New partnership

announced Peskett Solutions has made a groundbreaking move by distributing the ProReveal system, enhanced by Konnect from Medical Intelligence Systems. This innovative pairing is poised to transform preventative maintenance in UK healthcare facilities. ProReveal’s precision in detecting residual proteins, with sensitivity down to 50 ng, surpasses traditional methods. This microscopic accuracy, combined with

rapid 4-minute results, ensures both safety and efficiency in surgical environments. ProReveal provides comprehensive coverage, scrutinising entire instruments and endoscope channels. Its 3D visual display highlights contamination areas, serving as a valuable tool for immediate assessment and documentation. The system’s user-friendly interface promotes widespread adoption and adherence to cleaning protocols. ProReveal’s compliance with HTM01:01 and international standards like BS EN ISO 15883-1 ensures healthcare facilities meet stringent regulatory requirements. Konnect elevates ProReveal from a

cleaning verification tool to a comprehensive maintenance solution. By facilitating seamless data management and providing predictive analytics, Konnect empowers facilities to manage resources more effectively and reduce downtime.

Progress achieved in UV-C disinfection technology

Mackwell Health has announced the expansion of its BS8628:2022 accredited range of UV-C disinfection solutions with shorter cycle times and new evidence on medical device compatibility. l The range has expanded to three form factors. l New generation LED technology has been implemented, offering a 75% reduction in cycle time.

l ISO 13485 quality system certified. l Evidence on new medical devices and PPE disinfection.

l A new round of SBRI Healthcare funding will support further expansion of the evidence base.

Mackwell Health has made substantial progress in the development of rapid cycle, fully accredited UV-C disinfection solutions using solid-state LED technology. Following the announcement last year of Minibox HD2 as the first UV-C disinfection chamber to meet the BS8628:2022 surface high- level disinfection standard, Mackwell Health can

now announce the expansion of the range to include two additional form factors. TALLBOX HD2 is a floor standing unit designed for disinfection of large re-usable devices such as channel-less endoscopes. MICROBOX HD2 is a miniaturised version of Minibox, for point- of-care disinfection in confined spaces, and additional portability including in community healthcare settings. These two form factors join the established MINIBOX HD2 to provide a comprehensive suite of all solid-state UV-C disinfection solutions. All of these form factors have been upgraded with the very latest generation of UV-C LEDs that have emerged from Silicon Valley in the past year, with the result that cycle times can be delivered to achieve a BS8628 dose level in 5 minutes or less, a 75% reduction compared with the first generation. Mackwell Health can also report new evidence

showing real-world efficacy testing and materials compatibility on a wider range of re-usable

medical devices and PPE, including: l Cushioned anaesthesia masks. l Laryngoscope and scalpel handles. l Dental instruments. l Protective eyewear. l Respiratory Protective Equipment.

In addition, the company has achieved certification of its ISO 13485:2016 quality management system for medical devices, and has been successful in securing SBRI Healthcare funding that will allow the evidence base to be expanded to a wider range of medical devices. Andy Davies, General Manager, Mackwell Health,

said: “We are excited to announce the latest developments in UV-C LED technology, which will bring further benefits to the healthcare system, as it looks to improve patient safety, while delivering on Net Zero sustainability goals. We look forward to coming announcements on additional disinfection efficacy studies, for more re-usable devices.”
