comfortable patient experience and reduced likelihood of follow-up scans. Our patients can rest assured that our teams
will have access to current and cutting-edge equipment, with updated equipment delivered as technology advances. Early detection of diseases, including cancer, will lead to more effective, timely, and hopefully less invasive treatment options. Our patients’ conditions will be more effectively monitored, and treatments adjusted for the best clinical outcomes.
AI: a radiographer’s aid A key aspect of the partnership is the innovative use of AI. We have all seen how AI is transforming our working lives, and this is especially true in healthcare. As radiographers, AI will improve workflows for our patients, enabling faster and more accurate diagnoses. There will be lower radiation doses with reduced scanning times, while prioritised data analysis will enhance image acquisition. AI cannot replace the need for radiographers, and clinical decisions and interpretations will remain the professionals’ responsibility. However, AI will help us offer more appointments to more patients across our radiology services daily.
Training, research and development in Oxford The partnership we’ve forged with GE HealthCare is much more than a traditional supplier agreement. It will be a genuine collaboration, driving innovation and delivering mutual benefit. The Manor Oxford will play a key role in servicing this collaborative approach. It will serve as our reference site for the partnership, with all key modalities in radiology being replaced by 2026. This will provide the most up-to-date equipment for the local team and promote our Oxford Hospital as our flagship diagnostic centre. The partnership will offer fantastic training and development opportunities for our radiographers, working closely with our Clinical
Educator. The site will welcome colleagues from across Nuffield Health to see firsthand the advancements they will benefit from in the coming years. Moreover, our Oxford Hospital will serve
as a research and development hub for both GE HealthCare and Nuffield Health. The collaboration at Oxford will provide vital evidence and data as we work together to drive innovation and contribute to clinical research programmes, ultimately improving overall patient care.
Getting patients access to timely diagnostics With the lack of diagnostic capacity leaving patients without the answers or treatments they often so desperately need, innovative solutions are needed. Nuffield Health is fully committed to playing our part, alongside our colleagues in
The Managed Equipment Service
Nuffield Health has worked alongside GE HealthCare’s Healthcare Financial Services (HFS) team on strategic areas, including technology planning, budgeting, financing and risk sharing. The agreement builds on the success of a multi-vendor servicing agreement established in 2017, in which GE HealthCare managed Nuffield Health’s entire portfolio of technology assets. Through the 20-year Managed Equipment
Service (MES) agreement, GE HealthCare will take responsibility for the ongoing acquisition,

installation, maintenance, and staff training for medical technology utilised by Nuffield Health. The technologies and solutions within the agreement are aimed at providing the best possible care for patients and improving efficiencies for clinicians and other staff for years to come. By updating their MRI technology to GE HealthCare’s newer energy-saving models, Nuffield Health also expects to save 1,448,550 KW in energy per year across their fleet of 29 MRI Scanners.
the NHS. Through strategic partnerships like our collaboration with GE HealthCare, we can ensure that more patients have access to timely, more accurate diagnostics – getting them onto the right treatment pathways, faster.
