Set to be the biggest event in its history, Healthcare Estates 2018 will take place on 9-10 October at Manchester Central, with an expected ‘220+’ exhibitors and over 4,500 attendees set to attend an event which will this year focus on the key areas of ‘Fund, Design, Build, Manage, & Maintain’.
Each day of the conference will open with a keynote presentation, with Simon Corben, NHS Improvement’s director and head of Profession for Estates and Facilities, leading the charge on the opening day, 9 October, followed by a panel discussion with key representatives from across the healthcare sector. Day 2’s keynote presentation will follow the lead of one of IHEEM’s initiatives, in discussing ‘Women in engineering’, and a new initiative to enhance diversity and equality in healthcare engineering, and the role of the apprentice. NHS Improvement will also be delivering an hour-long session at Healthcare Estates 2018, covering best practice, with ProCure22 and Architects for Health also presenting conference sessions that will address the key NHSI themes.
Within this year’s three conference streams – ‘Strategy & Leadership’, ‘Engineering and Facilities Management’, and ‘Planning, Design and Construction’, the sessions will be organised into hour-long modules, available to book individually by NHS staff. Topics addressed within these modules will

Join IHEEM on board ship this August most powerful warship of her day,
This August marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Institute, and to celebrate this key milestone, IHEEM invites you to the head office city of Portsmouth for a special anniversary drinks reception on 17 August. Events and Marketing manager, Craig Willcock said: “The drinks reception will celebrate the heritage and innovation of the Institute as IHEEM sets the scene for its next 75 years. The setting will be HMS Warrior 1860 on the waterfront at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. HMS Warrior, Britain’s first iron-hulled armoured battleship, was launched in 1860, and was the pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet. Powered by steam and sail, she was the largest, fastest, and
and had a lasting influence on naval architecture and design. The evening will provide a great opportunity to explore this engineering marvel, and to experience life on board. Attending the event will be local dignitaries, members of the Institute, specially invited guests, and the IHEEM head office team. “To join us in celebrating IHEEM’s 75th on board HMS Warrior,” he continued, “email
